    The pagan wedding

Many of the Traditions of modern Weddings, whether spiritual or secular draw their origins from the Rite of Handfasting. Binding the hands of two people each to the other, making their own vows. This book contains background information on the Traditions and history of this rite as well as two Rituals, one of which being the Handfasting Rite performed by the Hearth of Hecate for Kate's Handfasting to her husband Steve. There is also a wealth of practical hints and tips as well as advice on how to approach Family and Friends who do not necessarily share the same spiritual path.

Witchcraft, Wicca, the Craft, the Craft of the Wise, are all terms used by modern Witches. Witchcraft today is a renewed version of the Old Religion with its roots based in the Palaeolithic worship of the spirit of the Hunt and reverence for the Triple Goddess.

This book provides a modern guide to the Old Religion. Phrased in down to earth, no nonsense language it gives a straightforward approach to Wicca. It is suitable for the experienced practitioner, the beginner or just to explain the Craft to those new to Paganism by demystifying the practical aspects of the religion, whilst destroying none of the spirituality. It is the culmination of teaching a training Coven to 1st Degree and the experience shows!

The authors have between them over forty years of Craft experience including Gardnerian, Alexandrian and Traditional paths, placing a firm emphasis on what feels right to the individual rather than a ‘do as I say’ approach.

Real Witchcraft: An Introduction contains many of Kate West’s key hallmarks as a writer. Her skill at putting, what to many is an ethereal topic, firmly down to earth. Her advice is always practical and sensible and with a range of options and suggestions as to how to proceed.

    The naming of the child

A logical step on from Handfasting, comes Wiccaning, the Rite of welcoming a new child and the giving of a name. As Witches we do not believe in indoctrinating our children with our beliefs, however the Rite of Naming carries with it a charm and wonder and unlike other faiths, in no way commits the recipient in anyway to the Craft. Sometimes Covens use the Rite of Wiccaning to name their new members. Again this book contains background information along with suggested Rites and ways of adapting them for your own Ritual, as well as Kate's usual practical advice.

Rites of Passage are those ceremonies or rituals we go through to mark the different stages of our lives. In most cultures there are Rites which mark the birth of a child, the transition from childhood to adulthood, the selection of a life partner, the passing away of a loved one. In some cultures there are also Rites to mark the selection of a certain spiritual path, the arrival of sexual maturity, and, more frequently for women, the end of childbearing years. This booklet is about the Rites of Age, those Rituals which a person may chose to celebrate — puberty, coming of age, retirement and the entry into the age of wisdom. The latter may be called Croning, which a woman may chose to celebrate at the menopause and its male equivalent, Wizzening.
